I type this Blog while I sit in my room while watching the American Rowing team stroll past my window for the first time while Hurricane Jova pours down on Ciudad Guzman.
It has been a long time since my last post. My four is now, after a 5 months process, ready to race and fight for a medal at this Games. During this Process I learned a lot both about racing, and human interactions. Now, I´m just eager too race and most of the time my mind wonders to the racecourse.
However, just recently, I began thinking about the Amazing experience I am having at the time. This games are important for my country, not so much because of the medal count, but because we want everyone in the continent to feel welcome, to feel safe, to feel amazed by Guadalajara, by Mexico.
There is a problem in Mexico, I ´m not going to deny it, but I assure you that my country has done everything in its hands for you to be safe, now just relax and let us show you a good time. Please don’t be afraid. Tour around, learn, and let us learn from you.
There are few cities in Mexico that have so much stake in our national identity. Tequila, Mariachis, and Charros are all originally from this State. If you would like to learn “Mexico“ in a day Guadalajara is the place to be. Once the Rowing is over take a few days to tour around Guadalajara and support your teammates from other Sports.
In terms of Rowing, the course is ready, with top of the line starting and buoy Systems. A new boathouse with excellent athlete facilities was also built, and once this Jova business is over; the water at Lake Zapotlan will be flat again.
SO WELCOME TO GUADALAJARA, WELCOME TO MEXICO
